Maltese fashion scene is looking good

The second edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta culminated to a grand finale on Saturday night when new and established designers took centre stage at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali.

The final show also hosted the Trussardi Jeans Malta Fashion Awards 2012, which were founded in 1997, and two hairdressers were picked to represent the island at the Wella TrendVision awards in Spain this autumn.

Steve Vella won the Colour category while Annalise Azzopardi was chosen as best in the Young Talent section.

In the main awards, Muriel Thake picked up Best New Designer and Justin Brincat was top Make-up Artist.

Shana Caruana won Best Female Model and Robert Galea was awarded Best Male Model.

The top Female Photo Model was Valentina Rossi and corresponding Male Photo Model was Gino Bezzina.

Tonio Lombardi picked up Best Fashion Photographer.

The fashion events held last week saw the launch of 14 new local designers.

On Friday, Maltese model Tiffany Pisani, who had been crowned Britain’s Next Top Model in 2010, launched her first swimwear collection.
